The Czech family investment group FKCG, owned by Jindřich and Ondřej Karhan, is opening Resort Český les in the Chodsko region in May. The wellness hotel with fifty-two studio apartments is the group's next move in the accommodation sector, after the Plzeň branch of the international Ibis chain and Bike&Wine Apartments in Znojmo. In the Český les Protected Landscape Area, specifically in Železná u Smolova, FKCG acquired a disused former barracks complex and a First Republic school building in 2020, and through a costly reconstruction designed by the Konceptual studio turned them into an ambitious resort intended to bring a new wave of premium-segment tourism to the area. The hotel includes the Srdíčko deer park, a wellness zone, the underground Kotelna bar focused on wine, and the Hvozd restaurant, headed by chef Martin Šiling, a familiar name from the Prague fine dining scene. Alongside the hotel, the investors have also established an endowment fund supporting the Český les region.
