Private interiors, public spaces, restaurants and offices. More than 200 projects in various categories competed for the Interiér roku 2023 title. Among the entries were the new Office wave by Alax showroom and several projects for which we supplied designer furniture from our partner brands. The list of contenders was packed with original and inspiring ideas, and we know who took home the trophies!
Exceptional interiors designed by Czech and Slovak architects have been honoured here since 2015. The Interiér roku competition is organised by the Institute of Interior Design in Prague and was created to demonstrate how much interior spaces matter and how strongly they shape the most varied aspects of life. The aim is to champion originality in homes and in the design of shops, restaurants, offices and coworking centres. Private and public interiors are divided into nine categories. This year 233 projects took part, a record number in the history of the award. The one condition was that they had been completed in 2023.
The best of them were chosen by a nineteen-member expert jury chaired by prof. akad. arch. Jiří Pelcl, dr. h. c., rector emeritus of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. The international jury included Ilja Skoček, president of the Slovak Chamber of Architects, the Danish architect Rasmus Kruse and other specialists from across Europe. Film director Hana Třeštíková, artist Pasta Oner and designer Jakub Pollág also had their say. The winners were announced on Tuesday 14 May 2024 at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, as part of Living Forum, the international congress on housing, design and architecture. Private homes were the most strongly represented, but the entries also included a number of hotels, restaurants, offices and more.
Alax played a significant part in several of these projects. For the new Resort Český les, set in the untouched countryside of the German borderland, we supplied furniture for the comfortable rooms as well as for the interior and terrace of the Hvozd restaurant and the harmonious wellness area. The entire concept was created under the direction of architect Barbora Mluvková and her Konceptual studio. We furnished the private Porg primary school in Brno with quality pieces from Narbutas. Models from our catalogue can also be found in the premises of Žaluzie Neva in Kralice na Hané, where the showroom, meeting rooms and other spaces were designed by the well-known architect duo Vrtiška & Žák.
